Concr\u00e8tement, cet arc cr\u00e9e un bain de fusion qui va joindre deux pi\u00e8ces m\u00e9talliques entre elles (par exemple pour des sections de faibles \u00e9paisseurs\u00a0: tube-tube, tube sur accessoire, tube &#8211; plaque&#8230;). En fonction de l&rsquo;\u00e9paisseur de la pi\u00e8ce, un fil d&rsquo;apport froid ou chaud est ajout\u00e9 au bain de fusion par tamponnage ou oscillation (exemples pour des fortes \u00e9paisseurs de soudage tube \u00e0 tube, tube \u00e0 raccord, tube \u00e0 plaque tubulaire, assemblage de tubes \u00e0 rainures \u00e9troites&#8230;). Le succ\u00e8s du soudage TIG d\u00e9pend d&rsquo;un certain nombre de facteurs, dont <strong>le type, la taille ou la forme de d\u2019affutage de l&rsquo;\u00e9lectrode<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n<h2>Types d\u2019\u00e9lectrodes<\/h2>\r\n<p>Le tungst\u00e8ne est un <strong>\u00e9l\u00e9ment m\u00e9tallique r\u00e9fractaire<\/strong> dont le point de fusion se situe \u00e0 3 410\u00b0 C. Sa r\u00e9sistance \u00e0 la chaleur de l\u2019arc est excellente et <strong>il conserve sa duret\u00e9<\/strong> m\u00eame \u00e0 tr\u00e8s haute temp\u00e9rature. Par le pass\u00e9, les \u00e9lectrodes de tungst\u00e8ne thori\u00e9 ont \u00e9t\u00e9 tr\u00e8s fr\u00e9quemment utilis\u00e9es en soudage TIG, mais le thorium pr\u00e9sentant un risque li\u00e9 \u00e0 la pr\u00e9sence d\u2019isotopes radioactifs, une machine de meulage sp\u00e9ciale \u00e9tait n\u00e9cessaire afin d\u2019assurer une bonne \u00e9vacuation des poussi\u00e8res. Aujourd\u2019hui, on pr\u00e9f\u00e8re utiliser des \u00e9lectrodes de tungst\u00e8ne au c\u00e9rium ou au lanthane qui ne pr\u00e9sentent aucun risque radioactif. De plus, elles sont <strong>tout aussi performantes<\/strong> que les \u00e9lectrodes de tungst\u00e8ne thori\u00e9. L\u2019angle \u00ab A \u00bb fait entre 18 et 30\u00b0 et le m\u00e9plat \u00ab M \u00bb entre 0,1 et 0,5mm. Plus les valeurs du courant sont \u00e9lev\u00e9es, plus l\u2019angle et le m\u00e9plat seront importants.<\/p>\r\n<p>La longueur d\u2019\u00e9lectrode doit<strong> \u00eatre calcul\u00e9e et coup\u00e9e<\/strong> en fonction du type de t\u00eate utilis\u00e9e, du diam\u00e8tre ext\u00e9rieur des tubes \u00e0 souder et de la longueur d\u2019arc sp\u00e9cifi\u00e9e. Sur site, il est souvent difficile de pr\u00e9parer les \u00e9lectrodes avec la pr\u00e9cision n\u00e9cessaire, m\u00eame avec une aff\u00fbteuse \u00e0 \u00e9lectrode. Pour certaines applications extr\u00eames, il pourra \u00eatre n\u00e9cessaire de remplacer l\u2019\u00e9lectrode \u00e0 chaque soudure.<\/p>\r\n<h2>Aff\u00fbteuse d\u2019\u00e9lectrodes de tungst\u00e8ne<\/h2>\r\n<p>Pour obtenir un aff\u00fbtage d\u2019\u00e9lectrode de <strong>qualit\u00e9 et suffisamment r\u00e9p\u00e9titif<\/strong> pour garantir la<strong> stabilit\u00e9 de l\u2019arc ainsi qu\u2019une p\u00e9n\u00e9tration de soudure r\u00e9guli\u00e8re<\/strong>, il est n\u00e9cessaire d\u2019utiliser une aff\u00fbteuse d\u2019\u00e9lectrode. Il faut aff\u00fbter le bout de l\u2019\u00e9lectrode de sorte que les stries d\u2019aff\u00fbtage soient parall\u00e8les \u00e0 l\u2019axe de l\u2019\u00e9lectrode.
