Best quality for parts in contact with the product Market leader, Krones AG, founded in 1951 in Germany, designs, develops, manufactures and installs systems around the world for filling and packaging technology, conforming to the High-Purity Standards. Krones AG provides systems worldwide to breweries and drink manufacturers as well as to the food, chemical, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries. In order to maintain its dominant market position, Krones must take into account all general conditions in its installations and particularly, the specific interconnection of all individual aggregates in complying with the highest quality criteria. As a result of this philosophy, Krones AG has become a global market leader, filling or labelling more than one in four bottles throughout the world.
Polysoude has a longstanding, global reputation for its commitment to innovative design, manufacture of cutting edge equipment and the fulfilment of customer requirements. The Polysoude UK sales and service team plays a valuable part in upholding this tradition of outstanding service.
The International event was held at the Nuclear AMRC, in Sheffield, where a record number of technicians, managers and industrialists attended, all eager to gain first-hand knowledge of the latest technological developments in mechanised and orbital TIG welding and cladding. The pairing of Polysoude’s state of the art equipment and expertise, with the unparalleled facilities of the Nuclear AMRC certainly proved to be a winning combination!
The years 2015 and early 2016 have once more been a period of dialogue and sharing of ideas between Polysoude and its customers. Through various events, Polysoude has shown its willingness to listen to the needs of its industrial partners. Open Days have been organised in Germany, France, Italy and India, welcoming industrial and business people wishing to find THE technical and economical welding and cladding solution. Welding technicians, decision makers and project managers from all over the world attended presentations and live demonstrations, at which open discussion took place in a convivial atmosphere.
Tests on the new TIGer technology have been conducted by the Italian Welding Institute. Developed, manufactured and provided by Polysoude, specialist in orbital welding and in the construction of automated and robotic welding and cladding equipment, TIGer (Fig.1) has been developed from HW TIG/GMAW technology.
Hot wire technology is already used extensively in the cladding field. It consists of the preheating of a filler material, usually wire, by Joule effect due to the current. This condition reduces the quantity energy taken from the electrical arc, which is required to melt the wire, consequently the efficiency of the thermal source is improved by assuring increased productivity in terms of welding speed and deposit rate, so that a better joint of the welding seam is achieved.
It has been half a century already since Polysoude has given itself the objective to meet industrial requirements through innovative solutions with a considerable added value and proficiency.
To be able to accomplish this, the entity of the group Global Welding Technologies (GWT) employs around 270 employees (of which 160 are based in France at the company’s’ headquarters in Nantes) and designs, manufactures and markets all kinds of equipment using TIG Arc welding, starting with Orbital welding (tube to tube, tube to tube-sheet, in every dimension or thickness required), automated welding (TIG hot or cold wire, Plasma) and finally weld overlay cladding solutions (TIG hot or cold wire) and other related services.
The ITER project represents a unique challenge for the assembly of workpieces, particularly on site, due to required precision after assembly and last but not least the quality (zero defects). One of the main questions is the pre-conditions required in terms of mechanical preparation, positioning, fixtures necessary but also the unavoidable deformation which occurs in the course of assembly by welding. Narrow Gap TIG Hot Wire welding appears as one of the essential techniques for joining these kinds of parts with such large wall thicknesses, as far as on-site assembly is concerned. This welding process corresponds perfectly to the constraints involved in the final assembly thanks to its all-position use.
