The whole range of benefits linked to TIG welding have not only encouraged the automation of sequences that were previously only done manually but have also been the starting point towards applications involving increasingly large workpieces.
Due to the confidence of the clients and hence the shared experience of solving technical problems, Polysoude has become the market leader in mechanised and automated TIG welding equipment.
Mechanised and Automated TIG Welding
Polysoude is producing innovative, customer-focused solutions with its mechanised and automated TIG welding. This technology has the power to weld pipe, tube and tube sheet applications, with or without filler wire; capable of withstanding severe mechanical stress, absorbing high dynamic loads and providing corrosion resistance.
Dedicated automated TIG welding head to weld the rod control mechanism upper joint in Nuclear Industry. This automated welding machine is designed to be used in the middle of very high and tight close to each other mechanisms. The machine is lowered along the tubes to the area to be welded. The welding cycle is started automatically by the operator via a remote control.
Mechanised and Automated TIG welding has progressed in step with developments in electronic systems, paving the way to automated welding applications in all positions. Complex automated welding sequences can be programmed in advance and welding sequences and instructions stored on a computer. Data can be transferred to the designated automated welding machines by flash drive or in the case of more sophisticated technology such as the P6 series, programming is further developed with the incorporation of the graphical user interface (GUI). This GUI allows for complete weld data management and also offers numerous auxiliary functions to support the development and finish of any TIG welding sequence, guaranteeing repeatable control of all mechanical and electromechanical parameters of automated welding.
Depending on the environment and the type of welds, it is possible to set the workpieces in motion by means of mechanical subassemblies (turntables, turning gear or positioners), or build more sophisticated machines with torches integrated into the welding heads and rotated around the workpieces, as in the case of orbital welding.
Proficient operators take over the running of the automated TIG welding equipment, but after the welding cycle has started, the automated welding system is completely controlled and monitored by the uniquely designed power source, which initiates and controls all functions and movements of the installation. Results, therefore, are excellent and quality is predetermined.
Using mechanised or automated TIG welding equipment, any desired quantity of welds can be produced, with sustained reproducibility and with each individual joint exceeding the requirements of the strictest production objectives, thereby increasing productivity.
