The MW 170

The MW 170

Size Matters!

Keeping up with the demand.

Polysoude are continuing to thrive in the constantly changing industry that is orbital welding. The increasing demand for larger tube diameter welding has given Polysoude an opportunity to demonstrate, once again, their leading status in the industry.

2017 saw Polysoude achieving record sales of the MW 170, an orbital tube-to-tube welding head, capable of welding up to 6" while maintaining the quality that Polysoude clients are accustomed to.

Following this strong trend into 2018, Polysoude engineers are hard at work to match the ever increasing demand.

SPX CNC shipment to Damman

Gulf Steel Works: SPX CNC

Check out this huge shipment of our SPX CNC on its way to Damman. It is the first SPX CNC sent to the Middle East for Gulf Steel Works.

This column and boom set up has an endless rotating head in order to increase productivity on a wide range of both simple and complex workpieces.

With an abundance of personalised variables available, this Polysoude machine will meet each necessary demand from GSW. Making it even more impressive, this machine uses a combination of TIG Hot Wire AND TIGer (bicathode) technology, therefore GSW will be able to clad with the high TIG quality at up to 3 times as fast.

Take a look at the SPX in action, previously commissioned at Arc Energy Resources:

Record time for two major projects: SPX CN & 12m TWIN TIGer weld overlay installation

After a busy year for both Polysoude and MEGA, Polysoude are now pleased to announce their successful collaboration with MEGA spa Italy, who this year, invested in both a Vertical SPX TIGer CNC and a Horizontal Twin TIGer 12 meter system.

MEGA first fell into contact with Polysoude at the beginning of March, searching for cladding solutions for an important upcoming subsea project for which they had no cladding equipment. Impressed by the products available for project, MEGA only needed until the end of the month to decide, and placed an order for the two systems: Vertical Endless Rotating SPX TIGer CNC and the Horizontal Twin TIGer 12 meter.

By May, all pre-qualification tests were completed at Polysoude technology centre, showing MEGA the suitability of the machines to their precise and specific project.

Continuing with the trend of quick turnarounds, Polysoude France and Italy assembled their team and got to work, starting production on the SPX TIGer CNC by the middle of August, then the Twin TIGer 12 meter by the end of November. We look forward and wish MEGA many successful projects with our systems and machinery.

Dual TIG overlay story in Shop Metalworking Technology Magazine

Combining two TIG electrodes to provide better heat to the weld overlay process, Polysoude’s TIGer system boasts deposition rates of up to 5.8 kg/hr. A variant of TIG hot wire welding, “we combine two tungsten electrodes into the same torch. This new torch, developed by Polysoude, creates a very specific arc,” says Hervé Penisson, sales manager–automated welding solutions for Polysoude SAS.

They talk about us: weld overlay story in Shop Metalworking Technology Magazine

The Canadian magazine Shop Metalworking Technology interviewed Hervé Penisson, Polysoude's sales manager for special solutions, to open up about dual TIG for weld overlay.

The article mentions how using Polysoude's TIGer technology, a variant of hot wire welding, and combining two TIG electrodes provides better heat to the weld overlay process while producing smoother arc.

Polysoude at Dockweiler open days 2017

Together with our local Polysoude agent Hall & CO Industri and the Dockweiler agent Arflow, a pharmaceutical seminar was organised with a goal to improve the welding quality on stainless steel and special alloys in this high purity industry.

Polysoude is the main manufacturer of dedicated orbital equipment for the pharmaceutical industry. According to ASME BPE, Dockweiler is the main certified manufacturer providing tubes and fittings in special alloys such as ALX6N, 1.4435, C22.

Participants were invited from multiple pharmaceutical disciplines to facilitate a cross-communication in the industry for both current and future worldwide pharmaceutical projects. Many took to seize this opportunity and within one week the seminar was fully booked with 40 keen participants.

Participants per discipline:

  • End users: NOVO Nordisk, Biogen, Lundbeck, Bavarian Nordic, Fertin, Janssen Johnson, Leo Pharma, etc.
  • Engineering companies: NNE, specialized in pharma.
  • Contractors: BB Steel ApS, Chr. Hansen, CKJ Steel A/S, Global Montage, GA Rustfri, etc. specialized in high quality orbital tube welding.

Expert presentations, including orbital welding demonstrations and interactive displays, helped deliver a high-end and informative seminar.

The feedback during the event confirmed the necessity to communicate individual knowledge in the pharmaceutical network, sharing ideas and innovations from each discipline.

Innovative Polysoude products were presented by our sales representative Kees Meurs. These products were highlighted in his presentation, themed “The best weld is no weld”, showing their use to the relevant procedures in the pharmaceutical industry.
